Report of the Investigation of Two Generator Rotor Fractures

Abstract

The recent fractures of two large generator rotors led to the initiation of an extensive investigation to clarify the causes of the trouble. This paper describes the various phases of the investigation, which included a thorough study of features of design and manufacture and the characteristics of the rotor materials, together with a presentation of the results.
