REGULATION OF HIBERNATING PERIODS BY TEMPERATURE

Abstract
The duration of hibernating periods of golden-mantled ground squirrels was measured at body temperatures ranging from 2 to 25[degree]C. The log of the duration of hibernating periods was shown to be a function of body temperature throughout this range with no apparent discontinuities. It was postulated that a single process operating between 2 and 25[degree]C may limit the duration of hibernating periods.
