Abstract
A new rheometer, called the balance rheometer, has recently been introduced. It consists essentially of two concentric spheres rotating with the same angular velocity about two axes which pass through the centre of the spheres, the angle between the axes being small. In the present paper a theory is developed which indicates that the balance rheometer can be used to determine the complex viscosity of an elasticoviscous liquid. Keywords
