Abstract
A six‐stage flash‐pumped dye amplifier using a rhodamine 6G solution is used for gain measurements. Amplification gains of up to 700 are obtained. Comparison of apparent amplification gains and absolute energy gains are made for different wavelengths emitted by a tunable dye oscillator. The possibility of achieving an effective energy gain of one order of magnitude by the use of a flash‐pumped amplifier is demonstrated for wide beams. Keywords
