The Application of High Speed Schlieren PhotographY to Diesel Combustion Research

Abstract

An account is given of the technique of applying high speed Schlieren photography to diesel combustion study. Details of the plant layout, the optical system and the control system are given, together with some early difficulties encountered. The results of some initial tests are presented as examples showing the scope of the technique.
