A combination of equally applied thermic and rotatory stimuli provides better evaluation of vestibular function. Rotatory stimulation is the only physiological approach, whereas thermic irrigation is a more selective procedure, inasmuch as it exposes only one side. Discrepancies between the two types of stimulation are not uncommon. The combination testing offers simultaneously, a preponderance of duration reading as well as a measurement of intensity data of the nystagmus, such as culmination of frequency.
