Abstract
Two new steroids, 2-methylhydrocortisone acetate (MF) and 2-methyl-9a-fluorohydrocortisone acetate (MFF) were compared with hydrocortisone (F) for corticoid activity on anti-inflammatory, glycogen deposition and muscle work assays, and with desoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA) for sodium retention activity. MF was 4.5 x F on anti-inflammatory, 10 x F on glycogen deposition, and 9 x F on muscle work assays, and 2.6 x DOCA on the Na retention assay. MFF was 9 x F on anti-inflammatory, 38 x F on glycogen deposition, and 10-15 x F on muscle work assays, and 90 x DOCA on the Na retention assay. MFF appears to be the most potent mineralo corticoid known. Keywords
