'Benemid', p-(di-n-propylsulfamyl)-benzoic Acid: Inhibition of Glycine Conjugative Reactions

Abstract
"Benemid" inhibits the conjugase responsible for the conjugation of glycine with p-aminobenzoic acid, but not the phosphorylation of glucose by phosphorylase plus preformed adenosine triphosphate. The implication of conjugative reactions is discussed and pharmacological and clinical applications of the anticatabolite hypothesis are indicated.
