Abstract
Indications for PacingThe indications for pacing will be considered under four clinical categories: Stokes-Adams syndrome; bradyarrhythmia; acute myocardial infarction; and overdrive.Stokes-Adams SyndromeThere is reason for limiting designation of this syndrome to patients with complete heart block who suffer from loss of consciousness due to bradycardia, asystole, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation or a combination of these arrhythmias.75 It has been estimated that there are 50 new cases of complete heart block per 1,000,000 population per year.17 In approximately 2/3 of such patients syncope will develop. The heart block may be chronic or intermittent and recognized only by prolonged . . .Keywords
