Abstract
The dielectric absorption has been examined in an aliphatic ester, butyl stearate, when in the waxy, transcent form. The measurements reveal the existence of three phases with well-defined transition temperatures; thermal studies and x-ray powder photographs confirm the existence of the three phases. There are three absorption regions in each phase, one possessing a very high activation energy. The possible mechanisms of the absorptions are discussed briefly.
