Cross section and isotope effect in the reaction of F+ with molecular hydrogen

Abstract
The ion‐molecule reactions of F+(3 P) and F+(1 D) with molecular hydrogen and its stable isotopic variants were studied using a tandem mass spectrometer. The cross section behavior and isotope effects were similar to corresponding reactions involving Ar+. In the higher energy regions the reaction appears to proceed by direct mechanisms. No unambiguous conclusions could be drawn about the reaction mechanism in the region below 1 eV relative energy.
