Abstract
Allogibberic acid hydrate is shown to be chemically identical with the gibberellin B described by Yabuta et al. When rigorously purified it does not induce accelerated shoot growth of dwarf peas. It slightly inhibits the growth of cress roots; this inhibition is not reversed by gibberellic acid. Earlier claims that gibberellin B stimulates shoot growth are attributed to incomplete removal of gibberellin A.Keywords
