Observations of domain wall velocities and mobilities in YFeO3

Abstract
Measurements have been made of the velocity and mobility of head‐to‐head domain walls in YFeO3 single crystal bars using a Sixtus and Tonks technique. Measurements were made over a temperature range of 178°K to 600°K and at driving fields up to 80 Oe. Mobilities in excess of 150,000cm/sec‐Oe and velocities in excess of 106 cm/sec were observed. The velocity at low fields is linear in applied field until a saturation velocity, vs=4×105 cm/sec, equal to the velocity of transverse acoustic waves, is reached. The low field mobility is given by μ= (1.9×106) e−T/80.5 where the mobility is in cm/sec‐Oe and the temperature in degrees K.
