Influence of Injection Site on Arterial Dilution Curves of T-1824

Abstract
Dilution curves of T-1824 were recorded oximetrically after injns. of the dye into the pulmonary artery, superior vena cava and antecubital vein in 23 persons. As the site of injn. was moved more peripherally, the time components of the curves became more prolonged and the concn. components reduced. The calculation of cardiac output appeared to be independent of injn. site. Both central blood vol. (Stewart) and lung blood vol. (Newman) were increased when dye was injected at more peripheral sites.
