Abstract
The underlying reaction mechanisms for the dissipative fissionlike process in the + reaction have been studied between 108 and 225 MeV of incident . The essential characteristics of the relaxed reaction products have been investigated by means of a time-of-flight spectrometer. The excitation functions for reaction, evaporation residue, fissionlike, and fusion cross sections were determined. Arguments in favor of an intermediate timewise mechanism between compound nucleus formation and deep inelastic collisions are presented.
