Correlation of virus polypeptide structure with attenuation of poliovirus type 1

Abstract
Several avirulent samples of poliovirus type 1 derived in the process attenuating the neurovirulent Mahoney strain show an altered virus capsid polypeptide, VP-1, on polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of sodium dodecyl sulfate-disrupted virions. [This study has relevance in assaying decrease in neurovirulence of poliovirus for vaccine production.].
