A case of aseptic meningitis secondary to intrathecal injection of I 131 human serum albumin

Abstract
The clinical and autopsy findings in 2 patients with bizarre neurological symptoms and signs culminating in dementia are described. Numerous small foci of ischemic necrosis were present throughout the central nervous system, secondary to lesions in the blood vessels. There was a multifocal neoplastic proliferation of endothelial cells of arteries, veins, and capillaries in nervous tissue and other organs. These cells were seldom seen outside the vessels and rarely caused thrombosis. Similar lesions have been described in 3 cases that presented dermatologic problems.
