Gated optical multichannel analyzer for ruby laser scattering from plasma

Abstract
An optical detection system is described which employs a commercial multichannel analyzer, augmented by a flat spectral response image intensifier and Kerr shutter, to provide time‐resolved, sensitive detection of plasmascattered ruby laser light. Operating characteristics are discussed and scatteredspectra from CO2 laser induced hydrogen plasma are shown.
