New evidence for a change in physical conditions at depths near 100 kilometers*

Abstract

Summary: Seismograms of South American earthquakes at depths down to 260 km. recorded at Huancayo, Peru, are used to confirm and extend the conclusion that a slight decrease in the velocity of longitudinal waves occurs at a depth of about 80 km.
