Tensor Polarizability of the Helium2S13State

Abstract

A variational calculation is presented of the tensor polarizability of the helium $2{}_{}{}^3{}_{}{}^{}S_1^{}{}_{}{}^{}$ state. The theoretical value ${\alpha }_t=(3.48\mathrm{}\pm 0.01)\times {10}^{-3\mathrm{}}$ a.u. lies within the error limits of recent experimental measurements.
