Clinical Investigations on the Histamine of Leukaemic Granulocytes

Abstract
Histamine, as extracted from centrifuged blood by the method of Barsoum and Gaddum and measured on guinea pig ileum, was detd. in 24 patients with myelocytic leukemia, and in 29 with other conditions. Reports of high values in both blood and bone marrow in the former condition are confirmed, although no correlation was found with the numbers of mature or immature cells. Use of histamine index in diagnosis of myelocytic leukemia is suggested.
