Immunity, Competition, and Natural Regulation of Helminth Populations

Abstract
A brief review of antagonistic interactions between co-occurring parasitic helminths is presented. Nonreciprocal cross immunity, which limits populations of competing parasitic species, may be one of several mechanisms evolved in the adaptation of a parasite to its environment. Cross immunity may, therefore, be considered as a competitive interaction between 2 species, which is mediated by a 3rd species, the host.This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
