The Effect of Ultraviolet Radiation and Sucrose on IAA Levels in Spirodela oligorhiza

Abstract
U.v. radiation significantly lowers the IAA level in fronds of Spirodela oligorhiza. Fronds grown in the light on medium supplemented with sucrose had much higher IAA levels than fronds grown on medium lacking sucrose. The results suggest that u.v.-induced abscission in Spirodela and the reduction of abscission by sucrose are both related to their effect on endogenous IAA levels.
