Abstract
It appears that measurement of thrust can yield useful information about the magnitude of the axial elastic force in viscoelastic flow through a tube. Using information gained in this type of experiment it is possible to form two dimensionless groups, viz. the ratio of elastic to inertia forces and the ratio of elastic to viscous forces. There appears to be a certain amount of correlation between these groups and the generalized Reynolds number for some of the experimental data. Keywords
