THE EFFECT OF A THYROTROPHIC HORMONE PREPARATION ON THE METABOLISM OF RADIOIODINE IN EUTHYROID, HYPERTHYROID AND ACROMEGALIC INDIVIDUALS 1

Abstract
Thyroid-stimulating hormone was administered to hyperthryoid, acromegalic and euthyroid patients studied with radioiodine. Total iodine in the thyroid and iodine discharged subsequent to TSH was calculated. Hyperthyroid patients secreted less iodine after TSH than did euthyroid cases, and acromegalic cases were intermediate. Three patients with hyperthyroidism were described who had unusually rapid iodine turnover rates.
