Abstract
Extracellular fibrils were observed in the ground substance of ultrarapidly frozen-dried rat tail tendon. Watery, low protein content submicroscopic vacuoles had low water content, protein-rich walls from which the fibrils seemed to be formed. There is a decrease in size of these vacuoles with increasing age. Keywords
