Abstract
Formic acid and glucose were added to the list of compounds previously shown by the author to be dehydrated by enzymes, with co-zymase as the agent of activation. The enzymatic oxidation of both ethyl alcohol and lactic acid by oxygen, with washed yeast or heart muscle as the source of the enzyme, was activated by co-zymase. The co-enzyme of lactic acid dehydrogenase (of Szent-Gyorgyi) was found to be identical with Euler''s co-zymase while the coenzyme of Harrison''s glucose dehydrogenase is apparently the same thing.
