Abstract
Oral treatment with .alpha.-difluoromethyl ornithine (2.75 g/kg rat per day) simultaneous with subscapular implantation in Buffalo rats of [rat] 5213, 1-1 hepatoma cells, retarded significantly the tumor growth rate for 20 days. The regimen decreased tumor ornithine decarboxylase activity (ODC). The tumors growing despite treatment maintained their malignant characteristics and ODC activity when retransplanted into normal animals.
