Abstract
If any of the usual ammonia distillation or aeration methods are used with plant juice, the evolution of ammonia continues indefinitely. A time factor is necessary. This difficulty is overcome by using permutit followed by aeration. The ammonia is taken up by the permutit, which is washed clear of the remaining juice. Upon adding NaOH and aspirating, the ammonia is released from the permutit and is taken up by acid. The ammonia is determined by either Nesslerization or titration.
