Determination of ammonia in low concentrations with Nessler's reagent by flow injection analysis

Abstract
A turbidimetric procedure for the determination of ammonia in low concentrations with the use of Nessler's reagent is described. Both natural waters and soil extracts can be analysed at a rate of up to 120 samples per hour with good precision and accuracy. The effects of reagent composition, flow-rate, temperature and protective colloids in the flow injection system are discussed in detail.
