Induced Resistance of Mice to Subcutaneous Infection with Trichomonas gallinae (Rivolta, 1878)

Abstract
Subcutaneous infections have been used as a model to study the role of physiologically derived substances such as antigens responsible for immunity in a protozoan infection. Antigens obtained from organisms incubated in protein-free media were capable of rendering protection against challenge infection in 50% of the animals tested. The nature of the infection and character of the pathology produced has also been studied.
