Abstract
The negativization of the phosphatase reaction in the cuticular border of the intestine, as observed by Moe (1951) is an artefact. This artefact is ascribed to a suppression of the CoS reaction as the concn. of Ca-phosphate increases. The strongly positive reaction in the cuticular border of the intestine after a short incubation time (1-3 min.) indicates a high activity of this enzyme. The activity decreases from the proximal to the distal regions in the intestine. In the proximal part of the nephron it is lower than in the proximal part of the intestine.
