Manganese in rabbit tissues

Abstract
In descending order, Mn contents of rabbit tissues were (Mn in ppm. in brackets): pituitary (2.4), pineal, lactating mammary gland, liver, ileum, duodenal mucosa, pancreas, salivary gland, kidney, duodenum, stomach (1.0), hair, gall bladder, caecum, adrenal medulla and cortex, ovaries, duodenal muscularis (0.50), bile thymus, spinal cord, hide, testes, brain, heart, resting mammary gland (0.25), thyroid, spleen, muscle (0.13), bone marrow(0.045), fascia, and lung (0.011). Dialysis of liver and kidney homogenates showed a large part of their Mn dialyzable. It is suggested that Mn participates in general cell metabolism while attached to cell-wall protein.
