Abstract
Summary Soil studies carried out with specimens collected on the Isthmus of Panama yielded isolates of Histoplasma capsulatum, Allescheria boydii and Microsporum gypseum. This constitutes the first record of the occurrence of these three human pathogenic molds in the soil of tropical America. The techniques used in the recovery of these fungi are outlined, and the implication of the findings are discussed.Keywords
