Abstract
A suitable enzyme procedure to detect [infectious] subclinical mastitis in bovine mammary glands was investigated. The measurement of the level of N-acetyl-.beta.-D-glucosaminidase in bovine milk is significantly related to the somatic cell count. A rapid, routine assay system for this enzyme was developed and its usefulness as a mastitis screening test was examined. Keywords
