A Comparison of Some Physical Properties of Hydrogen and Deuterium Iodides

Abstract
The absorption spectra and vapor pressures of the hydrogen and deuterium iodides have been measured. The absorption of the hydrogen compound occurs at longer wavelengths than does the deuterium iodide. The vapor pressures are only slightly different, the deuterium iodide having a greater value at a given temperature. The theoretical reasons for these differences are discussed, and equations for the vapor pressures are given as determined by this and other work.
