Occlusal Status, Caries, and Mastication

Abstract
A group of young adults with excellent occlusion was compared with a group with severe malocclusion for caries incidence. It was found those with malocclusions had more caries. For those with malocclusions caries activity was significantly greater where the lower incisor teeth were lapped than when the incisors were aligned. For the upper posterior teeth, the crowded teeth were less frequently affected than those in alignment.
