Abstract

2-Lithio-2-trimethylsilyl-1,3-dithian reacts with carbonyl compounds R¹R²CO to give alkylidenedithians, potentially valuable synthetic intermediates for formation of R¹R²CHCO₂H, R¹R²CHCHO, and R¹R²R³CCHO.
