Sucrose (ca. 6% of the dry matter of the leaves) was synthesized from both glucose and fructose when leaves of red clover and wheat plants, previously kept in the dark for 24 hrs., were placed in 10% solutions of these hexoses for further 24 hrs. in the dark.
