Ultrasonic Echoscopic Examination in Late Pregnancy

Abstract
By ultrasonic examination of the fetal skull, its shape and size can be clearly outlined. Echoes from within the fetal skull probably from the falx cerebri and foramen magnum have been recorded. The fetal trunk is displayed as a circle and is distinguished from the fetal skull by the echoes from the fetal spine. The abdominal wall fascial planes are frequently seen in detail and the shape of the uterus and the anterior part of the maternal vertebral column is usually defined. The placenta as such has not been definitely recognized, but a placenta-like artifact is described.
