Abstract
An alternating current potentiometric method for measuring the electrical resistance of metals and alloys at very high temperatures is described. The potential developed between two probes which make contact with the test piece is balanced against a potential developed across the secondary of a current transformer. The primary of the current transformer is connected in series with the test piece. The test piece in the form of a bar is mounted between water‐cooled copper electrodes and is heated by passing a high 60‐cycle current through it. The resistance is measured directly. A furnace and automatic recording and control instruments which can be used in conjunction with this method are described. Keywords
