Insertion of Isocyanides into the Palladium-Carbon Bond of Cyclopalladated Complexes

Abstract

Insertion of isocyanides into the Pd-C bond has been observed in the reactions of PdBr[C₆H₃(CH₂NMe₂)₂-2,6] with isocyanides CNR which give the complexes PdBr[C(=NR)C₆H₃(CH₂NMe₂)₂-2,6-C̲,N̲](CNR) (2a-d). An imino bridged complex 5 is formed on heating the imino complex PdCl[C(=NCH₂CO₂Et){C₆H₄(CH₂NMe₂)-2}](CNCH₂CO₂Et). The structures of 2c (R = nBu) and 5 have been determined by X-ray crystallography.
