Effects of Resident Duty-Hours Restrictions on Surgical and Nonsurgical Teaching Faculty

Abstract
The Accreditation Counsel of Graduate Medical Education approved resident duty-hours restrictions in June 2002 and mandated enforcement on July 1, 2003.1 The goals of the restrictions were to increase resident restedness and reduce fatigue, with the anticipated result of decreasing medical errors and improving resident well-being.
