Abstract
A new method is described for measuring the elastic moduli of a homogeneous, anisotropic substance at an arbitrarily chosen temperature between 78°K and 300°K. The method is characterized by high precision and by the fact that the specimen upon which the measurement is made is small and easily prepared. Data are given which show the variation with temperature of the principal Young's modulus of rocksalt between 78°K and 273°K.
