Pulse corona characteristics

Abstract
Experiments carried out to describe the corona occurring in wire-cylinder geometries due to short voltage pulses of positive polarity, and to assess the influence of corona current and on the energy associated with each pulse of both the electrode geometry and the voltage waveshape are reported. The experimental setup is described. The data are presented, and functions that fit them adequately are given. Within the range of tested values, it was found that the diameter of the wire did not exhibit any significant influence. The influence of the diameter of the cylinder appears very remarkable, but if one considers the average electric field and the specific energy, that influence almost vanishes.
