Abstract
It was very difficult to decide whether to introduce this paper by discussing taxonomic problems in the genus Euxoa and how certain different approaches might help to solve them, or whether first to describe a number of different approaches and then to reveal that the genus Euxoa provides an excellent opportunity to try them out. Chronologically speaking the second alternative is the more correct, the approaches existed and their acknowledgment was followed by the recognition and definition of a suitable problem. Keywords
