For administering quantitative doses of distasteful material to exptl. animals by mouth, it was found advantageous to dissolve or suspend the material in a sucrose soln. and measure it from a needle-less tuberculin syringe into the rat''s mouth. The animal lies on its back and the stream from the syringe is adjusted to the rate at which the rat laps.
