Abstract
Various peptides (up to tetra) of tyrosine and other amino acids in which the hydroxyl or amino groups were also reacted with different substituents, were used as substrates for pepsin activity. An analysis of results obtained indicated that the pepsin-catalyzed transpeptida-tion reaction involves the transfer of a tyrosine amino moiety of a donor to an acceptor with a free carboxyl group. It may thus be classified as a transpeptidation of the amino transfer type. Keywords
