27 vars. of snap and lima beans were tested for resistance to the potato leafhopper, Empoasca fabae, when planted in 5-ft. rows replicated 4 times. The vars. showed a wide range of susceptibility to leafhopper injury but, in general, early maturing vars. were most susceptible and late maturing ones tended to be resistant. Henderson''s bush lima showed outstanding resistance, while several popular snap bean vars. were susceptible to injury.
