Hearing Acuity in Young Children

Abstract
Results of testing 875 children, 75 younger than four years, and 100 in each age group above this to eight years, with the Western Electric 6-A and 6-B audiometers. Presently accepted reference levels apparently do not need revision in the age groups 3 to 8 yrs. Children of three and four years show less consistency in response and wider deviation from accepted normal than older children, but this variation is probably due to other factors than auditory acuity. Responses of young children to audiometric tests show considerable reliability.
